1930s–style lace wedding dress 'Angel' for Vintage Bride of the Week, Rosemary.

Dear Reader,
I have another gorgeous vintage bride to show you today. Meet Rosemary...

For her summer wedding, Rosemary wore 'Angel', the 1930s–inspired lace wedding dress from my Heavenly Collection.

With its flutter sleeves and deep v back, Angel is such a romantic dress. It perfectly suited Rosemary's graceful beauty. And we made it in a very special lace too...

This time we used the 'English net' style of lace – so pretty with its delicate trellises of flowers and bows. And as with most of our laces, it's an original 1930s design. It is remade exclusively for my Heavenly Collection, by its original Nottingham fine lace–makers.

Ros and her lovely mother Alison were a delight to work with – a charming and very stylish family. I loved the combination of jewel tones they chose for the bridesmaids' dresses, and for both Ros' and groom Vivek's families.

And now I'll let the pictures of Rosemary and Vivek's brilliant day speak for themselves...

September Gussing Up Inspiration and What Worked in August

 September Gussing Up Inspiration

When you get to third trimester fashion ideas, you see a lot of things that basically just say get through it and wear whatever still fits, but I love the fall and layers, so I still want to enjoy it. Here are a few things I thought were cute-
from lazy-saturdays.com
God bless Krista and her beautiful beautiful hair. I have been growing out my hair for childcare purposes, but these pictures make a powerful argument for pregnancy and bangs.
from http://www.stillbeingmolly.com/2013/08/06/believes-love/
Cotton maxi skirts and t-shirts may be the most comfy prego option without looking like you have given up completely, but I like efforts like Molly's to step it up just one more level. This looks like an actual outfit. I am going to work on this in September.

from whatiwore.tumblr.com
Excited for outfits like these (maybe less cheetah) because scarves make everything a little mor stepped up. My cousin wore a getup like this with leggings to the shower, and she looked adorable. This is how we are transitioning summer clothes into the fall (going to really try to avoid buying more clothes).

And What Worked in August

Man, looking right while prego is a moving target. I definitely got rounder this month, so I have to really work around the belly. This sunflower dress from Asos gets compliments basically every time I put it on, and it just makes me feel happy. It reminds me of things I wore as a kid, in a good way. On the other hand, it is puffy, so I look like a whole lot of woman, and it doesn't photograph all that well. These 2 pictures were taken a (very expanding) month apart, but you can't tell the difference. I imagine it will stay a staple until the parasite moves out.

This dress, which was either from Old Navy or the Gap, feels like a t-shirt and looks pretty nice with pre-prego cardigans. It proved to be breezy for the hot weather, and I am not so big yet that I don't love the horizontal stripes.

This orange dress (also from Asos) has turned out to be a real winner. I highly recommend buying their casual dresses, because they are comfy. My prego fashion all functions on 2 rules- 1. You have to cinch between the nunjas and the baby mountain (life is too short for mumus) and 2. don't get tricked into high necklines. They love selling dresses cut up to your neck, but a V or scoop makes all the difference when you are sort of stubby to begin with.

I planned on wearing this burgundy number to our baby shower (I feel like it is really grown up looking for some reason), but the day before I saw the belt Aunt Rene made, and I wanted to really show it off.

So I wore a teal maxi dress from target which had primarily served as everyday wear (it was already pilling from my computer bag and trips to COCA), No one seemed to mind. Looking at pictures, it may not have been the most flattering choice, but really the only way to look good all the time while prego is to never move you hands off the top and bottom of the belly. The color really highlighted the belt, which was always going to be the prettiest thing I wore anyway. It looked like my belly was exploding with life.

My tips for baby shower wear- just wear whatever you feel like you look good in and you know photographs well. And then just hold onto your belly for dear life.

I also had to pick a dress for pictures, and I think this was my biggest fashion win for the month. The little floral print is nice, the v-neck looks pretty (though I could have ordered it in a slightly smaller size, and I think it photographed well. Also, the belt was probably my best purchase for the whole shebang, It makes everything look put together.

Five Favorite Etsy Stores- Halloween Accessories

I want to keep highlighting amazing makers in the US, and I feel like my Etsy links can get caught in the more mainstream shuffle. So starting a series to focus on the greatest stuff we have found.

from Danielle V Green
Danielle V Green (New Jersey) makes brooches of cats in Halloween costumes like David Bowie, Bettie Page, Frida Kahlo, or the Little Mermaid. It sounds convoluted, and yet, when you look at them, the genius is clear from the get go. If you aren't necessarily a costume type of person but want to honor the sense of play that comes with Halloween, this is a great option. Also, if anyone is ever struggling to buy me a Christmas gift... If you love the pin idea but the cats aren't doing it for you, try Sayonara Baby, which has wonderfully disturbing Beetlejuice pins.

from Marty Magic
Marty Magic (Santa Cruz, CA) sells earrings and ear cuffs, many of which might be fun for Halloween. I love these bat cuffs the most, because they are both fun and a little bit creepy. I haven't seen them before, and getting things this memorable and unique is a big perk of Etsy.

from Callie Jewelry
Callie Jewelry (California) doesn't exclusively sell Halloween stuff, but I do love the subtlety of this skull ring. Great if you like your accessories to whisper about mortality. But not scream death, because that is just too much. It actually reminds me of the Goonies, so you know it's good.

from Delicate Industry
Delicate Industry (Sacramento, CA) sells these hilarious, unique, and completely creepy skeleton profile jewelry. These earrings look like something from a haunted mansion or out of a movie in the best way possible.

from Horribell
Horribell (Bethlehem, PA) wins my heart on sheer commitment. I feel like these work for awesome Halloween jewelry OR if you go to a heavy metal concert. I just think they look tough and and cool. You could be a soccer mom and show up to the game with a black t-shirt,jeans, and these earrings, and no one else is going to fight with you.

Introducing new DOROTHY, 1940s wedding dress in fine Chantilly lace.

Dear Reader,
Ah, September, and back to school for us all... I hope you enjoyed a delightful Summer. I've saved up something rather special to show you for the new season: My new 1940s-inspired lace wedding dress. Ta-dah, here she is..!
...As you may remember, I'm loving all things 1940s at the moment. (I'll be doing a little round-up later this week, just to remind you!) And so, I've updated my Dorothy wedding dress with some gorgeous 1940s-inspired details...
The original Dorothy is so so pretty, with its fitted bodice, A-line skirt and lace overlay. It's a very flattering and elongating combination, and always a popular style with my girls...
This classic, flattering silhouette lends itself very well to more sophisticated and glamorous 1940s styling. For the new dress, we've added long elegant sleeves and a chic V-neck - giving a very different feel...
Perhaps you've already noticed the gorgeous Chantilly lace we've used for the new dress? It's wonderful quality - very fine. And it has a beautiful border, which makes a stunning feature on the sleeves and the base of the skirt...
The V-neckline is finished with a delicate French lace trim too. And the full-length skirt dips slightly at the back, giving just a whisper of a train.

For the lining, we've chosen a pale apricot/champagne silk. This colour gives the dress a warm and flattering glow, perfect for pale English Rose complexions. And it looks equally beautiful in the classical ivory silk option.
We're delighted with our new movie-star-glamorous dress. I hope you love her too. Dorothy is available now, priced £1595 with apricot silk lining, or £1495 with ivory silk.

If you like Dorothy and would like to see more vintage-style wedding dresses, do check here. And I always have many fabulous original vintage 1940s and 1950s dresses here

And of course, I'd love to see you in person just contact me to discuss your needs!
Meanwhile, thanks for looking - and see you later this week.
Love
Helena
