Wedding Wednesday- Our Inspiration Pictures

Ok, now that things are boiling down, the pictures that ended up being our biggest inspirations have really come together. If you are planning your wedding, I highly recommend keeping a stock of the pictures that appeal the most to you as you go, because they will probably paint a pretty clear picture of the feeling of your wedding.

Ooooh, going through these makes me so ready to do this already! I think it is going to be fun. This is the part I miss now that we are going through the nitty gritty.

A Fun Day Out at the Bristol Vintage Wedding Fair

Dear Reader

On Sunday I had the most enjoyable day out at the Bristol Vintage Wedding Fair, which takes place every year at Bristol Zoo. It's one of my favourite events in the vintage wedding dresses' calendar.

The fair is organised by Ali, a most lovely and well organised lady, and is always a great success. I took about fifty of my original vintage dresses with me, here are a few shots of my stand.

Phew! All set up just in time for the lovely crowds to arrive...
And I was helped by my ace team: my sister Kathy who is invaluable on my stand, and my clever photographer husband Robert who took all the pictures. (You can see more of his wonderful wedding photography here.)

A snap of me with my dresses, taken by fellow exhibitor Delia from Flo-Jo
Let me tell you about some of the nice people I met, with their quirky ideas for making weddings special. First, Steph from Sweet & Pretty who sets up sweet tables to keep your guests amused - especially the children I imagine! I was stopped in my tracks by the smell of all the delicious offerings.

Steph had some beautiful floral arrangements on her stand done by Adele who has her own business called Tin Can Floral. I love flowers and I really thought Adele had a great touch with the delicate little grouping of arrangements.

Opposite my stand was a lovely lady called Delia from Flo-Jo, who had a fun idea for hen parties: lovely vintage-knicker-making parties! Here are some pretty shots of her stand and the lady herself!

I then spotted a very pretty vintage-styled model and asked Robert to photograph her; it’s always good to have a bit of vintage style inspiration! I was impressed by her feather headpiece, made by Tricia Hamilton, it was a perfectly balanced little thing and suited the model so well.

The model is Lauren, and the dress is by Pearl Bespoke. The lovely vintage hairdo is by Fiona at Beehive Brides, and I did notice it stayed very nice all day!

I mentioned that the vintage wedding fair is organised by Ali, who also has a company hiring out vintage crockery. I'll leave you with some pictures of her gorgeous vintage china, and if you love them, you can find lots more on her website here.

Vintage Wedding Dresses and Summer Festival Style.

Dear Reader,
Hooray! The sun is out and summer kicked off with almighty–Glastonbury–bang last weekend. Festival style is everywhere!
Kate Moss, the original Festival babe in vintage-inspired wedding dress
The 1970s–inspired festival look always work so beautifully in summer, doesn't it. Even the smartest of city girls are currently skipping through our hot London streets in flowy dresses, loose tresses and pretty sandals.
Farrah Fawcett marries Lee Majors, 1973
With their flowing lines and delicate trims, vintage wedding dresses always suit this free-spirited Festival styling. Today, I thought I'd pick out some pretty examples of 1970s-style brides – and some fabulous free-flowing hairstyles – to inspire any Summer brides…
Actress and model Marisa Berenson, 1976
Gisele Bundchen and Tom Brady, 2009
1970s style icons Yoko Ono and John Lennon
Mick and Bianca Jagger's St Tropez Wedding, 1971

Poppy Delevigne's Marrakesh Wedding, 2014
Jane Birkin, inspiration for free-spirited 1970s girls everywhere!
I hope I've inspired you to slip on your finest silk dress today, to waft around in this glorious sunshine – or simply to lie on your sofa and imagine you are in Marrakesh!

3 Things I Love Today- Raspberry Popsicles, Romans 12:9, and Durer's sketches and etchings

1. Raspberry popsicles- We got a Zoku popsicle maker as a wedding gift, and it has changed our life. It is so simple to use, and now we know actually unstrained fruit juice and a teensy bit of sugar makes the best popsicles in the whole world. Delicious, amazing, and it at least feels not too terribly bad for you. At least not as bad as cake, which is what we would usually be eating.
2. This- "Don’t just pretend to love others. Really love them. Hate what is wrong. Hold tightly to what is good. Love each other with genuine affection, and take delight in honoring each other. 11 Never be lazy, but work hard and serve the Lord enthusiastically. Rejoice in our confident hope. Be patient in trouble, and keep on praying. When God’s people are in need, be ready to help them. Always be eager to practice hospitality. Bless those who persecute you. Don’t curse them; pray that God will bless them. Be happy with those who are happy, and weep with those who weep. Live in harmony with each other. Don’t be too proud to enjoy the company of ordinary people. And don’t think you know it all!"-Romans 12:9

3. Anything Albrecht Durer ever made- Italian Renaissance is grossly overrated. Check the North, people. I've been looking at his sketches and etchings today for inspiration. So incredibly detailed and beautiful. Like looking at a photograph hundreds of years before they were invented.
